                          Thanks for visiting!

Some of the best advice I've ever had was given to me by a coworker at a daily newspaper. She told me, "We wear many hats around here."

Her comment can apply to many changing careers during an economy in flux.

Journalists are now charged with shooting video, applying data visualization techniques, as well as being able to write a great story.

Educators are being asked to take charge of themselves as teachers as well as collaborate with peers in dealing with a standardized curriculum.

Physicists are being asked to find new answers to old problems almost daily, and their experiments are evolving at an exponential rate.

As a double journalism/education major with a minor in physics, I am something of a combination of all three. During my time at Drake University, I have:
                          • Worked for a daily newspaper in both small and city settings.
                          • Had my cultural perceptions changed by Des Moines Public School students through 90+ hours of practicum.
                          • Operated a 6,000 ton steel neutrino detector half a mile beneath the Earth, in an abandoned iron mine an hour from my hometown.
                          • Coordinated the creation of a 56-page campus newspaper.
                          • Worked with top journalism students from around the country at the Online News Association 2011 conference.
                          • Worked with nuclear materials (Author's Note: it was in a classroom setting. I'm not building a bomb).

This site contains clips from most of these experiences. Please feel free to contact me at any time!
