COLD FEET: These penguins look a lot like I did after a Des Moines ice storm. (Photo: Frank Hurley/Flickr)
Last Wednesday, my peaceful existence at Drake was shattered when a massive ice storm coated Des Moines, causing the second day classes to be cancelled and the Des Moines snow removal budget to be pushed into the red for the first time in years. The storm caused a multitude of problems, including a trampling wave of hungry college students.

The storm happened to coincide with plans I had made that day to walk to the post office to return a printer power cord I had mistakenly brought back to school with me. Now, the Nelsons are composed of the idiotic ridiculously stupid obsessive trait comparable with Captain Ahab's hunting of the White Whale noble belief that once you set your mind to something, you must do it.

Therefore, I ventured out into the great unknown, attempting the 12-block walk alone. I made a video that shows a world coated in ice, and is not for those with short attention spans. However, if you like random, cool shots of ice-covered things set tocopyright free melodic iMovie music, then check it out.
